(August 8, 2007). - After English, and ahead of German, Japanese and French, Spanish has become the second language most used for Google searches worldwide. This was made known today by this company, famous for its search engine. According to Google, the intensive use of Spanish demonstrates the increase in Internet traffic in the region. “The Internet is a vehicle for economic growth,” stated Gonzalo Alonzo, Google CEO for Spanish-speaking markets in the region. Last April, Google opened its Latin American Operations Center in Buenos Aires in order to serve the burgeoning Spanish-speaking market. At present, more than half of its traffic comes from outside the United States, and the company is now recording the results of searches in fifty-five countries and thirty-five languages.Source: Clarín. |
